Runner Withdrawals

We know plans change and injuries occur and you may not be able to run on the day. However we will have incurred expense in allocating your race number and as such are unable to offer a refund on your entry fee. However, we will gladly transfer your entry to the next Valentines 10k at no extra cost if you request this in writing at least 14 days before Race Day. After this date we may not be able to process your request due to time constraints.

Number Transfer (please tell us all about it...)
We are aware that runners unable to run on the day often give their number to another runner without telling us. We wish to discourage this for reasons of race management and in case of an emergency.

If you can't run and wish to transfer your number to another runner, PLEASE TELL US and make sure you give ALL the details of the replacement runner.

Just before the 2007 Race a female Club runner got injured and gave her number to her spouse who ran and got quite a reasonable time. We took the results at face value and thus we thought the "female" runner had done really well, so well that she had "won" her age category and published the results accordingly. We got a very apologetic phone call on the Monday morning explaining the situation and we had to republish the results and re-award the prizes to the correct runner.

Perhaps of potentially more serious concern is if someone running with a wrong number suffers an emergency, we would have no method of contacting the correct person.

Under England Athletics rules we are quite within our rights to ban runners who swap numbers and don't inform us and they may be excluded from ALL England Athletics sanctioned races.
